Tooth grinding and jaw joint disorders

Research estimates that as many as 1 in 5 people are wearing their teeth out early due to clenching or grinding habits. Often the damage is done while asleep and so people can be surprised to find out they are affected.

Whilst there is often no pain in the mouth, the signs of tooth grinding include:

Rough edges developing on the front teeth

Front teeth becoming short, stubby or chipped

Teeth becoming sensitive or loose

Sore jaw muscles

Headaches

Once the teeth are significantly worn down, repair is complicated and expensive - it is better to slow the process down by wearing a protective night splint. There are a few different designs of splint, which we are happy to discuss with you.

Pain management injectable treatments are also available using BOTOX, with the added advantage of wrinkle reduction!
